June Nelson Scholarship; Due March 24th

We wanted to send out a reminder about the June Nelson Scholarship - the deadline to turn in applications is March 24th. 10 students will be awarded $1200 scholarships.

Qualifications for new applicants -
• The student must be graduating this 2016-2017 school year.
• The student must be accepted as a full-time student by a business, trade, or college institution.
• Only students from AASB’s member school districts will be considered for the scholarship, which means Copper River School District students can apply!

Sy Neeley Memorial Scholarship; Due April 28th

The Sy Neeley Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to current year graduating students residing in the Copper River School District.

The scholarship is intended for those going into the vocational trades. Preference will be given to those going into the construction trades.

National Science Youth Camp-Due March 1

I recently received the information on this, so the application deadline is near. But, it looks like a great opportunity for a senior interested in science with all costs paid for this experience.

APPLICATIONS Now Open for the 2017 National Youth Science Camp (NYSCamp). Application Deadline is March 1, 2017. This program is for graduating high school seniors in the United States (Two each from every state and Washington, D.C.) and students 16-18 years of age in selected other countries (see below). NYSC 2017 dates are June 14 - July 8, 2017.

Copper River Basin Lions Club Scholarship; Due April 21

Awards are for individuals who will be full-time students, in any course, which leads to a certificate or degree in an apprenticeship program; trade, technical or vocational school; or an accredited college. The due date is April 21st. The application can be found in the attachment. Due April 21st!

This is a great opportunity to learn about the Copper River Watershed through incredible outdoor adventures! Due March 30th.

Rural Alaska Honors Institute; Due March 1

The Rural Alaska Honor's Institute (RAHI) provides rural and Alaska Native students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the college experience for six weeks. High school junior and senior students live in the dorms and take college level courses. They earn 8-10 credits and learn firsthand what it takes to succeed in college. In addition to the rigorous academic program, students learn study skills and time management and by the end of the program, our proven record shows these students are ready for the challenge of succeeding in college.
