The Tim Akers Memorial Scholarship Fund supports outstanding Alaskan students in the pursuit of technology education and/or training. Two $1000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors of Kenny Lake School or SAPA, or home schooled in the Kenny Lake, Tonsina, or Willow Creek area. The Phi Delta Kappa (PDK) Educational Foundation awards more than 30 scholarships each year to prospective educators who have a connection to PDK by having a family member or teacher who is a PDK member or through membership in the Future Educators Association. This 2012-2013 school year, AASB (Association of Alaska School Boards) will award ten graduating seniors each with a $1,200 scholarship to apply toward their post-secondary education. The scholarship may be applied toward the student’s choice of a business, trade, or college institution.

It begins as a loan, but has forgiveness benefits built in if you teach in rural Alaska after graduation. Your principal and interest may be forgiven in part or in full by the State of Alaska.
