The United States Senate Youth Program has begun its statewide selection process. In March, two Alaska students will join 104 other delegates for Washington Week – an intensive educational program about the workings of the Senate and the federal government overall. State delegates will have outstanding leadership qualities and a strong commitment to public service. They generally rank in the 1 percent of their states academically. Each delegate receives a $10,000 undergraduate scholarship and an expense-paid trip to Washington, D.C. Alaska’s eligible students must be high school juniors or seniors, an elected student officer for the entire 2016-2017 academic year, and state residents.
Students should submit their application to their principal or myself by Monday, October 24th. Each school can nominate one student. Due October 24th!
