This scholarship is based upon a combination of merit and need. You must have a minimum 2.5 GPA or higher. It can be used at colleges, universities, and technical and trade schools. This scholarship is available to high school seniors in the Matanuska Susitna Valley as well as students currently enrolled in an ag-related program at Mat Su College. The ACLU of Alaska invites high school seniors, college, and vocational students to apply for a $2,500 scholarship to support their studies. Given in the memory of Joan Hamilton, a former ACLU of Alaska board member, this scholarship is awarded to a student who wishes to pursue a law-related career to advocate for Alaska Native rights and to defend the constitutional rights and civil liberties of the peoples of rural Alaska. In 2014, the CVEA Community Foundation will award $8,000 in educational and leadership scholarships. $3,000 will be awarded in General Scholarships with a $1,000 and a $500 general scholarship available in each district. Additionally, one $500 community college scholarship will be awarded in each district. Finally, the Foundation will also award a youth leadership scholarship for one sophomore or junior in each district to attend the Idaho Youth Rally Leadership Camp. This 2013-2014 school year, AASB will award ten graduating seniors each with a $1,200 scholarship to apply toward their post-secondary education. Ayn Rand’s novels are inspiring and intellectually challenging. But they can also be financially rewarding for high school and college students. The Ayn Rand Institute sponsors annual essay contests that offer over 600 prizes and $100,000 in prize money each year. For details, choose from the subjects shown on the left of their website. The University of Alaska Foundation offers more than $2 million in scholarship awards annually, making higher education possible for any student who seeks it. Scholarships are available to students attending any campus of the University of Alaska (Anchorage, Fairbanks, Southeast and all community campuses). Many options are available, with hundreds of students receiving awards based on merit, financial need, outstanding achievement in specialized fields, or any combination of these criteria.
Since most scholarships are awarded early in the spring of each academic year, applications must be received by February 15th, to be considered for most scholarships. Any applications received through July 15, will be used for any late awarded scholarships or any new scholarship that may open up. Click here for more information. This is a very large scholarship program. The Foundation's college scholarship program bases its awards totally on essays written by the applicants.
