The SAT will be given on Saturday, May 6th at Glennallen School. Juniors that are considering going on to college after high school are encouraged to test this spring. Attached please find the application for the 2017 Copper River Stewardship Program. This program is open to students who are currently in grades 8-12, and the application deadline is March 30th. This is a great opportunity to learn about the Copper River Watershed through incredible outdoor adventures! Due March 30th.
The Rural Alaska Honor's Institute (RAHI) provides rural and Alaska Native students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in the college experience for six weeks. High school junior and senior students live in the dorms and take college level courses. They earn 8-10 credits and learn firsthand what it takes to succeed in college. In addition to the rigorous academic program, students learn study skills and time management and by the end of the program, our proven record shows these students are ready for the challenge of succeeding in college. We are happy this year to also participate in the FRS Youth Tour. High school students (age 16 or 17) who are members of the cooperative have an opportunity to apply for the tour, which is being held this summer in Washington, D.C. One student from our service areas will be selected to travel to Washington, D.C. with a CVT chaperone. CVT will cover expenses, including travel, hotel, and registration. Additional details and application are attached and are due back to CVT by March 24th.

The Idaho Youth Rally Scholarship provides an opportunity for sophomores and juniors attending high schools in our service area to attend a week-long electric industry leadership camp where students practice leadership, communication skills, and teamwork, while learning the importance of the electric industry and issues electric utilities are facing.
The deadline for submitting completed scholarship appication packets is 5 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2017. This course, taught via WebEx from the Alaska Vocational Technical Institute, is a great opportunity for juniors or seniors interested in maritime careers. Cost is $268 for the course. Method Test Prep is a great tool students can use to prepare for the SAT and ACT exams. To access, students log on to their Career Cruising account (www.careercruising.com); click on My Plan under the student's name; click on Method Test Prep in the lower left hand corner.
Our local VFW is sponsoring this essay contest, and students will have the opportunity to win rewards at our local level. Top essays will then go on to a state and national competition. The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery, a test for students considering the military, will be administered at Glennallen School on Monday, October 24th starting at 850 am. Contact Mr. Lorence if you are interested.
