Alaska Business Week (ABW) is a one-week summer program teaching the basic principles of private sector business to Alaskan high school students. Dates are July 27-August 2. Summer Visual Arts Academy
June 3 - 14, 2013 The 9th Visual Art Academy is an intensive visual arts program for students from grades 6–12. Our faculty of professional Alaskan visual artists will be teaching classes in: Animation, Cartooning, Ceramics, Computer Art, Costume and Fashion Design, Digital Photography, Drawing and Design, Metalsmithing, Painting, Printmaking, Sculpture & 3D Design. Wrangell Institute for Science & Environment (WISE) is supporting the recruiting of two students from the Copper River Basin between the ages of 14 and 19 to attend the World Wilderness Congress (WILD10) in Salamanca, Spain, from October 4 through 10, 2013. There will be two travel days before and after the Congress. Essentially the students would be out of the classroom eight days learning life changing experiences. The Computer Assembly component is the spark that illuminates a vision of a career in engineering or science for our high school students. Each participating student assembles a top-end computer and earns the right to keep it by completing trigonometry, physics and chemistry. Computer Assembly students are academically ready for university-level engineering and science coursework when they arrive at the university, and they are now arriving in unprecedented numbers.Click here for more information.
The Alaska Summer Research Academy (ASRA) offers engaging and in-depth experiences in science and engineering throughout the year.
