The Ahtna Heritage Foundation has a summer youth interpreter position open. Must between the ages of 15 and 18 (cannot turn 19 during the program). Share the history, culture and language of the Ahtna people with Ahtna Cultural Center visitors. Assist with collection care and special events. The position pays $10 per hour. Click the attachment for further details. Due April 30th. This year’s camp will be held at the Voyage to Excellence Residential School in Anchorage. Students have the choice of participating in the Culinary Arts, Construction Trades and Heavy Equipment Operation, or First Responder strands as an applied, project-based activity. Successful completion of these strands allows students to gain national certificates, high school credit (up to 1.5), and even dual college credit. Students will receive Alaska Food Handler certificates, First Responder certifications, or National Core Construction Certificates. Students will also be able to take VTE’s Driver’s Ed course and receive their learner’s permit or driver’s license. The camp is FREE for CRSD students. Parents only responsibility is to provide transportation to Anchorage prior to the camp’s start date/time, and then home again at the conclusion of the experience. See the attachments below.
